Hillrose Morgans is a small, private Morgan horse farm in Mendon, NY, just a few miles south of Rochester, NY, in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of western NY state. The name, Hillrose, comes from my first Morgan mare. She was bred by Mark and Liz O’Donnell of E. Aurora, NY. After I purchased her, I spent many hours researching and learning about the horses in her pedigree. I came to realize that most of the lines behind her had not been bred on. I eventually bred her to a Lippitt stallion, Equinox Beaubrook to get my lovely mare, Hillrose Twilight Image, “Maggie”. Several years later, I bred Maggie to the only stallion that carried some of the same Morgan horses that were behind Rosie- Twelve Oaks Major. I have her son, Hillrose Taconic Major, “Jack”. With these 2, I am hoping to produce some of the best Foundation Morgan horses that represented NY state years ago.

Another old NY state lineage focused on here at Hillrose Morgans is Lippitt Field Marshal, a 3/4 Lippitt stallion and family pet, from Warsaw, N.Y. He was known for his kind and friendly disposition and an uncanny ability to jump that he passed down to his offspring. His lineage was behind Hillrose. I realized that this line of Morgan horse was also about to be lost to the Morgan breed. I have sought out the best Foundation Morgan mares and a stallion that have lineage back to him to join Maggie and Jack in this endeavor.

The Morgan horses here at Hillrose Morgans have successfully competed in Hunter Paces, Competitive Trail, and Carriage Driving. “Maggie” was 3rd in the nation for the AMHA Open Competition Carriage Driving as a 5 yr old and received her 1st blue ribbon at Walnut Hill as a 7 yr old, and consequently being awarded her 1st Reserve Championship.

Take a look at our Foundation and high percentage Foundation Morgan Horses that we are breeding here at Hillrose Morgans, and see some of the most beautiful, friendly, athletic, usable, typey, and family oriented horses. These are the horses that helped build our country. A piece of history is waiting to be your next best friend.
